Malikappuram revolves around the life of Kalyani, an eight-year-old girl deeply devoted to Lord Ayyappa. Her persistent desire to make pilgrimages to Sabarimala is frequently hindered by family crises. In the wake of a tragic event, Kalyani decides to embark on the pilgrimage, accompanied solely by her trusted friend and neighbour, Piyush. Unexpectedly, a stranger played by Unni becomes their guide, ensuring their safety on the journey while also foiling the sinister intentions of malevolent forces they encounter along the way.

The theatrical release of "Malikappuram" on December 30, 2022, garnered praise from critics and emerged as a major box office success, marking a career-defining moment for Unni Mukundan.

Directed by Neeta Pinto and produced by Kavya Film Company and Aan Mega Media, the film features Vishnu Sasi Shankar as the director and Vishnu Narayanan as the cinematographer.
