Unni Mukundan's 'Meppadiyan,' produced by his own company, is basking in the limelight after securing the Best Film of a Debutant Director award at the 69th National Film Awards. This award and movie are particularly cherished by Mukundan, given that it's his very first production.

While expressing his pride and congratulating Vishnu Mohan, the actor also opened up about the financial challenges and setbacks that the film had to contend with during its journey. Despite these adversities, the film managed to overcome these obstacles and resonate positively with audiences, ultimately securing multiple awards.

Unni Mukundan's father, M Mukundan Nair, had the honour of receiving an award for their production company UMF, and the sight of his father's involvement in 'Meppadiyan's supposed incredible journey left Unni rather teary-eyed.  

The award distribution took place on September 17th during a ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
